Integrated Design Charette
Starting before the final plans have been drawn, Biotexture can help lead the involved parties (i.e.; owner, architect, engineer) in a design charette to ensure that important strawbale structure related details are given attention and that the optimum structure is being constructed.
Preconstruction Meeting
This meeting is conducted prior to breaking ground. Plans are reviewed and possible changes and monetary impacts discussed. A meeting attended by the owner, general contractor, and framing contractor will refine schedule, resolve questions concerning details and overall communication protocols for the entire project. This meeting will always save the owner extra costs through reduced change orders, refined timeline, and increased communication and collaboration between subcontractors. In building any home, basic costs are incurred, and strawbale is no different. What is different is the unfamiliar details which can confuse framing, electrical, plumbing and finish carpentry subcontractors. Considerable costs can be reduced or eliminated through proper education of these unfamiliar details before the construction process begins. Biotexture commonly falls into the role of educating the other subcontracting crews on the unique needs of a strawbale wall system.
