Full service contractor
Biotexture is a full service, fully insured, strawbale and plaster contractor. We can coordinate all aspects of strawbale construction from advising the owner on appropriate design to instructing other subcontractors on the unique requirements of a strawbale wall system. This allows the owner to hire any subcontractor, thereby allowing work to proceed similar to a conventional building project. We also offer consultation services for the owner/builder through the entire project or for any specific phase.
Bale stacking
Biotexture can procure high quality straw bales from our extensive network of farmers which specialize in creating optimum bales specifically for building, as well as coordinate transport and storage. Bale stacking can be completed by our experienced crews while novices of all ages can also participate with proper quality control; see our workshops page for more details.
Bale/plaster Prep
Often the most underestimated part of the strawbale wall system, correct bale/plaster preparation is essential to the strength and longevity of a strawbale home. It is imperative that this phase is completed within certain tolerances to provide a proper substrate for plaster adhesion and strength. In depth knowledge of plaster protocol is essential. In addition, the tools required for this phase are dangerous, and therefore, this is an unsuitable phase for untrained persons to participate in.
